Ensnare Marine works to free Oceanic animals from the dangers of abandoned fishing nets.
Some ghost nets attach to reefs and shipwrecks and trap animals living there. Scavengers come to feed and then also face death as they become entangled themselves.
Other nets float freely in the Ocean. They trap swimming animals who weigh the net down, dragging it to the seafloor where scavengers also eat them. These nets aren't held down by a reef or shipwreck, and they bounce back to repeat the cycle.
Ensnare Marine is manning boats equipped with both Side-scan and regular Sonar capabilities to locate and tag floating ghost nets in the open sea. Nets aggregate in ocean current convergence points so that's where we look first. Divers carefully hook the net so that it can be drawn up to the boat and looked through for surviving animals.
Nets are then cleaned and collected for recycling.
